The Fediverse Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Club is open to everyone! 1)

Once a month, we vote via mastodon poll for a book to read the next month posted by @picklish@weirder.earth. All participation in the club all happens informally on the #SFFBookClub hashtag, so feel encouraged to post initial thoughts, interesting quotes, questions to other people reading the book, full reviews, or even nothing at all. Folks post both via Mastodon and also Bookwyrm. (These two are just example links; due to federation reasons and software differences, different instances may see different sets of posts.)

Feel free to join in any month where a book sounds interesting to you, and participate as much as you feel comfortable. You should also feel encouraged to read anything from the backlist of previously selected works and post your thoughts about them on the hashtag as well even if it has been months since the book has been read. If you have suggestions on books to read in future months, feel free to respond to a poll, post on the hashtag, or edit the proposal list directly.

(Please don't flood the #SFFBookClub hashtag with self-promotion, especially if you are not participating in any reading discussion! Despite what some people think, it's not a general purpose “scifi books” hashtag.)

Here's the list of books we've already read.

Here's the list of books that were proposed and not yet picked.

If you regard yourself a member of the club, feel free to request an account on this wiki from jay.

Obviously, people who are racists, facists, transphobes, etc are not welcome here. Unfortunately, a fediverse hashtag cannot be moderated, and so it's left to users to report and block, and instances to block defederate as needed if any issues arise. A number of #SFFBookClub members are on weirder.earth, so you can see their list of groups of people that aren't welcome if you need more examples of who is welcome and who is not.
